Question: Why do you deserve to win ? What makes you special from the other scientists ?

Keywords: ,

  1. I am the representative of International Society of Science and Culture. I have been working as a science communicator. This project, “I’m a Scientist. Get me out of here!” is the kind of work I am interested in. I already sent a column introducing this project in a Korean newspaper(Gwangju Ilbo-Daily), which will be on 28th of Aug. As a scientist, I already got out of the ‘box’ to reach out and communicate with the world . I have been working to stimulate the young people to have scientific mind in Korea, China and Mongolia. I also challenge the young mothers and the women in science and technology, specially.
But I think every scientist selected on this project deserve to win because of their excellent achievements in their fields and they proved to have such a passion to come all the way up to here to meet the young people, the future scientists..

  2. I don’t know if I would identify myself as ‘special’, as every scientist is working toward something special in their own field, and all of the scientists in this competition are wonderful, dedicated people. I am very passionate about talking to people outside of the science community about the work that we do, and that other scientists do, because giving people information helps them to make the best decision for their situation. I also think that everyone should be able to do or understand science, without needing to go to university. No matter who wins the competition, all of the scientists involved will be working toward this same goal!

  3. I’m not sure that I would classify myself as more special than any of the other scientists here – we are all just working towards something. I would LIKE to win because I passionately believe that everyone should have access to safe and reliable healthcare and this is what the St John of God Pathology project in East Timor is helping to work towards. SJOG has helped to set up a basic pathology lab in Timor, and if I was successful in this competition I would put the money towards helpting train the staff so that they can run the lab safely.

  4. I’m not in it to win it. When I signed up, I didn’t even know it was a competition.

I’m in it because I think it’s fun to chat to you guys! My husband is a science teacher and it’s fun for me to have a bit of contact with schools outside work. It may have been a few years since I left high school, but I remember it like it was yesterday…..

  5. I’m with Natasha; I only learned about the prize long after I signed up. I’m enjoying the opportunity to answer questions and speak to you guys (looking forward to tomorrows’ chats!), and I hope that I can share my love of science with all of you and learn some things along the way. If I win, I’ll do my best to use the prize to inform kids and adults about the serious problem of antibiotic resistance and how they can make a difference so that we can stay healthy as a society; if you think that that’s something that’s important, then I guess I’d say that’s why I deserve to win!
