Yes, I did originally plan to become a doctor. I actually applied to medical school, and was accepted when I finished school. However I got very ill, and spent a long time in hospital in the last term of year 12 and saw lots of doctors i didn’t like at all and decided I didn’t want to become one of them. Luckily I had one doctor who was fantastic – he sat with me and talked about what my strengths and interests were and he suggested medical laboratory science as a possibility. I am very glad Dr Jannes took the time with me and suggested Med Lab science as a career for me, because today I can’t imagine doing anything else.
