Dear Ilikechicken; I think so, especially the pet dogs and cats do. My brother had a pet dog and he told me how his dog acted upon his mood. His dog knows him by his footsteps and greet him by jumping up and down on him and wagging his tail.
If my brother is in good mood the dog follows everwhere he goes and stay with him. If he is in bad mood, the dog only watch him from a distance and read his face.
My brother told me he was very much comforted by his pet dog while he was going through difficult times, actually better than his wife! The animals probably have better sense than we for noticing his master’s feeling.
