I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Disease Zone. It has scientists studying the causes and processes of illness . Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
Dear Katie; I did some searching and see if they work for you. The basic ideas are to stimulate blood flow around the hair follicles, keep the hair clean and supply nutrients specially protein. Hair is composed of protein called keratin.
1.frequent scalp message with fingers
2.frequent combing with round and smooth teeth comb made of wood
3.Wash hair at night with mild shampoo to get rid of the dirts of the day. Washing hair at night is better than washing in the morning as hair grows at night while you are in sleep.
4. try hair pack with natural organic packs
5. eat lots of peas and beans, seed foods.
6. dry hair well before put on hat or tie into pony tail
7. wig or hat could interfere with air flow reducing supply of oxygen to hair follicle
8. avoid stress as well
Splitting of hair at the ends is a kind of aging process specially prominent in long hairs. Lack of nutrient supply all the way down results in aging and splitting at the ends of hair. Thus keeping hair in a proper length can help preventing the splits, Also followings are advised;
1. do not use hot dryer
2. avoid dyeing of hair
3. frequent permanent will promote splitting at the ends
4. avoid plastic combs which produce static electricity and not good for hair

I just wish I could make my hair grow at all. 🙂 I’m afraid I can’t do much to help you with split ends…

🙂 I’ve had someone ask me this question before. Like what Soon said, it’s all about getting your blood flow to the hair follicles that produce hair! So massage your scalp. That increases your blood flow and as you know, all the nutrients and oxygen that hair follicles need are in the blood. I’ve been washing my hair every day (because I jog in the morning) and have noticed my hair grows really quick now!
To prevent hair problems: reduce stress (not easy, I know), exercise, eat healthy, do not dye or bleach your hair, air dry in stead of warm air, use hair masks and oils!

My hair is always some weird colour (at the moment it is orange, but a few weeks ago it was purple!), but that also means that it is often not healthy. I spent a lot of my undergrad looking at hair down a microscope, and I don’t often tell people this, but back in year 10 I actually started a hairdressing apprenticeship, before deciding that science was for me, so I’ve seen all kinds of damage, and what people do to try to fix it!
Things like bleaching and dying dry your hair out heaps, and actually damage the scales that make up your hair follicle. Washing your hair every day can also be bad, because it strips out all of the natural oils your hair and scalp makes, which are actually designed to keep your hair healthy. Some shampoos, like Pantene, are advertised as making your hair “look healthy”, but really, a lot of them are just covering up unhealthy hair by coating it in silicon, which makes it look smooth and shiny. Unfortunately, this doesn’t help your hair, and can actually make the problem worse, because it is suffocating the follicle. What really dry, damaged hair needs is moisture, protein and rest! That means no extra product, no straightening irons or hair dryers, and lots of conditioner!
