I’m a Scientist is like school science lessons meet the X Factor! School students choose which scientist gets a prize of $1000 to communicate their work.
Scientists and students talk on this website. They both break down barriers, have fun and learn. But only the students get to vote.
This zone is the Disease Zone. It has scientists studying the causes and processes of illness . Who gets the prize? YOU decide!
I’m not sure what you mean by ‘pressured’, exactly. There’s pressure to publish academic papers, which is how we show that we’re productive, but this is the same sort of pressure that you would find in any work environment. There’s a debate going on in academia right now about what we call ‘work-life balance’, which boils down to the fact that we might be pushing graduate students, postdocs like me, and professors to work too hard, which costs them happiness and extra stress.
You might be talking about something else, though, and if you are leave a comment and I’ll try to make the answer clearer!
